Alerts by SMS

Stonewake can send you a short text message when an exposure on your team's book turns Red. This page explains how a number is set up, what a message says, when a message is held back, and how every delivery is recorded. Your number is managed in the dashboard only. The API and MCP read the delivery record and never a number.

Setting up your number

Open Settings in the dashboard and enter your mobile number in international format, starting with the country code, for example +49. Only mobile numbers in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Belgium, Italy and Spain are accepted; premium rate, shared cost, satellite and landline numbers never are. Nothing is sent to the number until an administrator of your workspace approves it on the settings page. The approval sends a six digit confirmation code, and the number receives alerts only after you type the code back, which shows the number is yours. A code is valid for ten minutes and allows five attempts. You can request at most five codes a day and one a minute.

Your number is stored encrypted and is shown to you masked, with only the first two and the last two digits visible. It never appears in a log or in the delivery record. Removing the number stops every message at once and erases the stored number for good, and so does entering a new number for the old one. When an administrator removes you from the workspace, your number is erased in the same step. An administrator can also remove the number of a member who has already left, and never approves one.

What a message says

A message is written in your workspace's alert language. In German an alert message reads "Stonewake. Eine neue kritische Meldung in Ihrem Arbeitsbereich. Details im Dashboard." and for a high alert "wichtige" instead of "kritische". In English it reads "Stonewake. A new critical alert in your workspace. Details in the dashboard." and for a high alert "important" instead of "critical". The confirmation code arrives in the same language. A message names no company, no figure and no client, because a text message travels unencrypted and can be read on a locked screen. The details wait in the dashboard behind your login. Messages are sent through an SMS provider in the EU, under the sender name Stonewake.

Which alerts reach your phone

Which alert classes reach a phone at all is set per team by your workspace administration together with Stonewake, the same team subscription that decides who receives alert mail. An alert reaches only members of the team it belongs to, and only while they are active members whose team holds the part of Stonewake the alert comes from. Within that, your own setting narrows what reaches your phone. By default SMS carries only a move to Red of an exposure on your team's book. You can widen it to every critical alert, such as an insolvency notice on a watched company, or to critical and high alerts. Informational alerts never go to SMS, and a news event reaches a phone only when it is critical, whatever your setting (News monitoring). A fact that was already old when its alert was written, more than two days for a status change or more than 30 days for a register event, is recorded for the daily summary and is not sent.

Quiet hours

You can set quiet hours on your workspace's clock, German time unless an administrator of your workspace chose UK time. The settings page names the clock under the quiet hours. The clock follows summer time, so quiet hours from 22:00 to 07:00 stay 22:00 to 07:00 on the nights the clocks change. A message that falls inside them is held and recorded, and it is not sent later. By default a critical alert still comes through, and you can switch that off.

Alert language and time

An administrator of your workspace chooses on the settings page the language every alert is written in, German or English, and the clock that quiet hours and the dates in alerts follow, German time or UK time. The choice covers every channel, SMS, email, Teams and webhooks. A workspace that never chose gets its alerts in German on German time. A German alert mail carries the English text below the German one; an English alert mail is English only.

Limits

Each workspace has a daily limit of messages for the workspace and for each member, and a monthly budget, and Stonewake keeps one daily limit over all workspaces together. Confirmation codes count against the same daily limits as alerts. A message over a limit is held and recorded, and a message that could not be sent is not sent again. While no limits are set for a workspace, SMS is not available there. In a demonstration workspace no message leaves Stonewake, and the confirmation code is shown on screen instead.

The delivery record

Every message leaves a record. Each attempt is recorded as queued, sent, delivered or not delivered according to the provider's delivery report, failed, or held with its reason, quiet hours or a limit. You see your own record in the dashboard. GET /v1/alerts/deliveries and the MCP tool alert_deliveries read the workspace's record by alert, with ids only, never a recipient, a number or a company name.
